Those Tempo Modulations Get Me…

I recently discovered Tim Exile through Warp Records YouTube Channel, and I must say that any song that integrates a clever tempo modulation seems to catch my attention. I mean, really catches my attention – maybe it’s the music nerd in me? I’m not sure, but in any case, I’ve been listening to Family Galaxy by Tim Exile over and over – I’m not even sure if there’s much I like other than the tempo modulations… In any case, thought I’d share.

Here it is: Tim Exile “Family Galaxy”

Homegrown Music Video Festival 2009

My fiance Christine Latvala and myself both created videos for the 2009 Homegrown Music Video Festival in Duluth, MN. The filmmakers who participated in the festival drew songs from previous Homegrown compilation CDs out of a hat and had to create a music video over the weekend.

To read more about the festival and watch the entries: Homegrown Music Video Festival Entries 2009

Christine’s film: The Alrights “Happy Birthday Universe”

My film: The Keep Aways “Rivalry”

Copy & Paste at the Short Shorts Film Festival

A short experimental film I created entitled Copy & Paste will premiere at the 3rd Annual Duluth Short Shorts Film Festival in Duluth at the Playground tonight. The film is a type of experimental music video where all of the sounds are derived from the sounds in the video–I composed the entire work in the Adobe Premiere Pro editing software. The festival begins at 7pm (tickets go on sale at 6pm – $5) and promises to be highly entertaining. Check it out if you are available!
